Night of the Butcher II gets its night in the spotlight here on the Chron, but is it filet mignon or ground chuck? We review the wild Necro-Jacobs brawl, some very good short matches, some very…not-so-short matches, and more in the latest BSWH.

Match # 56: Jerry Lawler & Cowboy Lang vs. Plowboy Frazier & Little Tokyo (12/24/83) [EWY-17]
This was Memphis at its finest. Lawler gets a ripped miget wrestler to be his partner in this studio tag. Plowboy Frazier, a very tall fat man, grabs an Asian midget to be his evil partner. Classic good meets bad, [...]
Match # 55: Jerry Lawler vs. Randy Savage (Cage Match) (12/12/83) [EWY-16]
Remember when Scott Hall walked onto a live NITRO and we were led to believe he was representing another promotion in 1996? That was pretty cool. Memphis actually had something just as cool 13 years before in 1983. The Macho Man came onto the [...]
Match # 54: Dutch Mantel, Koko Ware, Bobby Eaton & Jaguar vs. The Grapplers & Bruise Brothers (12/10/83) [EWY-15]
One of the Bruise Brothers (Porkchop Cash) looks like Kimbo Slice. The Other Bruise Brother is Dream Machine in yet another incarnation. The Grapplers are muscleheads in masks. Koko is wrestling as Stagger Lee, the mask gimmick [...]
Match # 52: Koko Ware vs. Tommy Rogers (10/24/83) [EWY-13]
Rogers insists that Jimmy Hart is not his manager, but Hart is already out at ringside in a seat waiting to watch the match. Interesting.
Match # 53: Bill Dundee vs. Tommy Rogers (11/7/83) [EWY-14]
This is some nonsense title match up. It’s a junior belt that every fed had. What’s more important is the match up, which looks good on paper.
Match # 51: Austin Idol vs. Stan Hansen (Bunkhouse Match) (10/10/83) [EWY-12]
Bunkhouse match means anything goes. This is a rematch from our last match, where a horrible finish had Idol winning after Hansen had already won.
Russell: “Boy Hansen, spitting bullets tonight”. Classic.
Match # 50: Austin Idol vs. Stan Hansen (Texas Bullrope Match) (10/3/83) [EWY-11]
Hansen set this up with Idol through our last match on the ballot. Hansen stalls to get heat, yelling that he doesn’t want the bullrope taped to his wrist. There is a cow bell in between the two in the middle of the [...]
Match # 49: Jerry Lawler & Austin Idol vs. Jesse Ventura & Stan Hansen (9/25/83) [EWY-10]
Idol is famous in the Gulf Coast and Memphis areas, doing a gimmick based off his body and Superstar Billy Graham. Hansen is a legendary bad ass based much of the time in the AWA, but far more famous in [...]
Match # 48: Bill Dundee vs. Assassin #1 (9/25/83) [EWY-9]
No idea who Assassin # 1 is, but you gotta love the generic wrestler gimmick in Memphis. For the record this is outside of the studio or the Coliseum. This is a spot show somewhere with a lively crowd. We start off clipped already in the [...]
Match # 47: Rock N Roll Express & Bobby Eaton vs. The Moondogs & Jimmy Hart (7/25/83) [EWY-8]
This match is probably on here just as much for novelty as match quality. Here we have a really early pairing of the Rock N Roll Express, and they partner with future famed rival Bobby Eaton. How cool [...]
Match # 46: Fabulous Ones vs. Moondogs (6/13/83) [EWY-7]
The Moondogs took out Steve Keirn in a stretcher match a month or so ago. In the interim Stan Lane went to the man who put the Fabs together, Fabulous Jackie Fargo, and tagged with him in an awesome but short tag match versus the Moondogs. That [...]

Oct. 22, 1975 – Johnny Saint vs Keith Martinelli
For the uninformed, Johnny Saint is the patron “Saint” of the Euro style. He’s a favorite of Danielson,Quackenbush, Chris Hero, and Colt Cabana when it comes to the technical chain wrestling style. When you go see him work, I’d say it’s the closest thing to seeing a [...]
Match # 45: Jerry Lawler vs. Bill Dundee (Loser Leaves Town) (6/6/83) [EWY-6]
This match, from the pre-fight build to the execution and finish, is just amazing. Essentially Dundee goes heel on his partner Lawler, though he retains some of his own fans. They disovle the tag team and have a war of words for weeks. [...]
Match # 44: Fabulous Ones vs. Bobby Eaton & Duke Myers (Hair vs. Titles) (5/16/83) [EWY-5]
Duke Myers is the wild car here, because everyone else I’m very familiar with in this match. Interestingly enough, Eaton and Lane are on opposite sides here, but would go on to form a version of the Midnight Express with [...]
Match # 43: Fabulous Ones vs. The Moondogs (Stretcher Match) (5/2/83) [EWY-4]
A month back First Family members The Moondogs cheated to beat the Fabs at the Mid South Coliseum in Memphis. This is a rematch, with the gimmick being your opponent (one of the two) must go out on a stretcher.
This match is so awesome [...]
Match # 42: Fabulous Ones vs. The Moondogs (4/4/83) [EWY-3]
The Moondogs ripped up the Fabs fancy coats, hit them with the dog bone they carry around, and embarrassed them. Hence, we have this match for the AWA Southern tag titles.
The Fabs come in heavy, take it to the Moondogs in a brawl. The ref just [...]
