Since I posted Jon Moxley’s inaugural promo in Florida Championship Wrestling, I might as well do the same for Claudio Castagnoli, or as you may have seen on Twitter, MISTER Antonio Cesaro. The usual slightly stilted delivery by the multilingual athlete, but he gets across his character and intentions clearly. Im namen der independents.
Random musings I felt like posting, rather than a full article devoted to each item (not that each item deserves its own article).
This amazing weekend has come to a close… and the DVDs are already available! Why this year’s King of Trios deserves to be seen and remembered by all wrestling fans.
What’s this “Mania” business? King of Trios is coming back to Philadelphia in April! Here’s the rundown of the squads matched up in this massive tournament, some legendary names from Japan among them.
This clip was from a CZW show in November, where Chikara’s own Osirian Portal – Amasis & Ophidian – took on the team of Joe Gacy and Ryan Slater as part of CZW’s Tag Team Title tournament. watch?v=DU4TDGlbTz8 I saw it yesterday, but then I heard today that it’s blowing up. Not quite to the [...]
I had an immensely busy day following a night attending Dragon Gate USA’s Philadelphia return, so here’s a rundown of their second straight iPPV of the weekend and a regular PPV taping from Union City.
After closing their 2010 with the crowning of NEW Campeones de Parejas in Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw, Chikara opens up their 2011, back in Philadelphia, with the usual and unusual suspects and some special guests.
Long-running independent JAPW celebrated 13 years (!) of operation by extending their anniversary show into two shows, coming back to the (now-Asylum) Arena in Philadelphia a day after running in Rahway, NJ. I bought my ticket shortly after hearing five special words: Jushin Liger Versus Mike Quackenbush.
The mighty Chikara returned to Philadelphia for their second-to-last show of the year. Among other things, they held their second-ever Falls Count Anywhere Match and uncharacteristically dialed up 1-8-7.
Chikara! Dragon Gate! ECW’s past! TNA’s past! TNA’s imminent future? Stars of all walks of life converge in Philadelphia for the REAL biggest party of the summer.
Dragon Gate USA returned to Philadelphia to celebrate its first anniversary, complete with Dragon Gate’s finest, some talented Americans from Chikara and elsewhere, and some guy named… Byron Dragonson or something.
The biggest wrestling tournament of the year comes to a close once again in Philadelphia, with more surprises, suspense, and awesome matches.
The year’s biggest wrestling tournament had a chaotic quarter-finals, two of Chikara’s brightest rookies shined in Rey de Voladores, and Hallowicked’s table was ready.
The biggest wrestling tournament of the year got off to a rollicking start, thanks to the likes of Curry Man, Cuije, and a bunch of weak-chinned Mormons.
Chikara’s biggest event of the year is set in motion, and Brian Streleckis provides the details on the teams and what we could expect over the weekend.
Chikara opened up their 2010 as they closed their 2009: on a Sunday in Philadelphia, on the day of a major WWE PPV. Oh yeah, and awesomely, likely better than the WWE show.
F.I.S.T. vs. The Colony (Chikara 2/20/09) I’m taking an extended holiday vacation until the first Monday of January and partly using it to enjoy a stack of wrestling DVDs I have. Plowing through my Chikara stack, I hit up a show from much earlier in the year dubbed “If the Airplane is Snowed In, Put [...]
DGUSA crowned their first champion in Philadelphia and offered two Match of the Year contenders along the way. Brian Streleckis has all of the (admittedly late) details of this big show and PPV taping.
Brian Streleckis gives his thoughts on Chikara’s final event of 2009 – their Season 8 Finale – in Philadelphia with a couple of standout matches and a wild ending straight out of a Lost finale (imagine Ben Linus as a Swiss wrestler).
Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw vs. Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson (Chikara 9/13/09) Last night, I watched a match from this past September (much fresher in the public’s minds than everything else I’ve been watching) that I enjoyed so much, I wanted to implore other people to check it out. I know John usually does these [...]
