UNR Episode #164 – How serendipitous.
Posted on October 11, 2011 by Rick Finch
If this show was a gun, it would be a loaded gun.
Featuring Breaking News, a Vince Russo tribute, Mega Beers Explode, Hogan’s retirement, Knoxvillians’ feelings, a Classic Clip of one of the most memorable segments we’ve ever witnessed, Ask Burnside, The UNRS and much more!
Oh, and this is also Burnside’s last time hosting.

I liked this classic clip. I thought Foley was funny here.
But was Foley expecting someone as backup? The way he kept repeating “now” made it seem as if that was his backup’s cue.

I think they were trying to get over the idea that Foley was crazy.

So, would you say Sting’s disguise in this classic clip is the greatest ever example of “mind games”? It gets my vote.

Papa Shango had some mighty fine mind games back in the day.
As did Ultimate Warrior in WCW.
But this Sting moment may have been TNA’s greatest example.

How could the Joe vs. Morgan vs. Crimson triple threat match be any worse? Well I will tell you, the inclusion a Hernandez in a MMA style submission match. First in ring death in TNA?

The only one who has any excuse for being bad at this point is Crimson.
Joe should be a great worker, Morgan should be good and Hernandez should be okay.
None of those are the case right now.

I completely agree with you Finch. How long have these four exchanged rivalries?
It’s really pathetic that they have been wrestling each other for so long and are still unable to put on a decent match.
Who is the best of the 4? I wanna say Joe but at this point I really don’t know.
I think someone needs to give Joe a pep talk i.e. Matthew Broderick on the episode of “Louie” when he was remaking the “Godfather”.
Hervey “How about we take a break? When ya get back Joe, please, try to give a shit”

Joe is the only guy on the list with a Meltzer rated five star match, let alone two.
Fat hasn’t stripped him of all that talent, yet.

Make that three. Forgot about the three-way with AJ and Daniels.

I can’t blame Joe. I would have given up already myself. To be unapologetically jobbed night in and night out, but to still have “Joe’s gonna kill you” chants, TNA is clueless.
I’d love to see Joe, Daniels, and AJ just go back to Ring of Honor.
Or tour with Dragon Gate. A Samoa Joe v. CIMA match would be awesome.

I remember the time limit draw matches he had with CM Punk in ROH. Those are the only pro wrestling DVD’s I have ever owned.
Going back and watching them again I don’t understand why WWE never signed Joe. He had the size and talent that WWE was looking for.
Fat jokes aside, WWE has hired more obese guys then Joe. They kept Big Daddy V around for far to long and are still signing fat slobs with no talent on a monthly basis. Husky Harris, for example, who looks worse then Joe ever did and has half the in-ring ability.
Hopefully there comes a day when Joe is signed by WWE or even a decent story arc on Impact and it forces him to care a little bit more.

Husky is second generation, so there’s your answer for him.
Joe was stuck in limbo between being in shape (Cena) and being really fat (Yokozuna).
It wasn’t what they were looking for. They gave him a televised tryout match I believe, but that’s it.

WWE should have hired Joe in 2005 or 2006. There is no reason they would or should hire him now.
He’s still better in-ring than Morgan, Hernandez, or Crimson, though.

I was at Bound for Glory Sunday night and I swear Bully Ray is the only person in this company with a clue regarding crowd psychology or anything else related to wrestling for that matter. The fans were all ready to pop for the heel before his match like they did in all the other matches until Ray cut that awesome promo about “raping the fans of Philly and taking their money for 15 years” and the building turned on a dime. I sat on my hands during the match because I am completely apathetic to Mr. Anderson, but I saw very few people in the building give a positive reaction to Bully Ray after that promo. This guy should be on top in this company, period.
