    Pre-show

1) Pelle Primeau & John Kermon defeated the Bravado Brothers

2) Ricky Reyes defeated a jobber

3) Bobby Dempsey defeated one half of The Set

    Main Show

The show opened with an in-ring interview with Jim Cornette and Tyler Black. Davey Richards interrupted and told them that “the hunt is on.”

1) Eddie Edwards defeated Kevin Steen. Edwards advanced to the Television Championship tournament finals after Steen was distracted by El Generico and fell victim to a small package. Steen “went crazy” afterward.

2) Davey Richards defeated Kenny King. Richards made it an all-American Wolves finals as King tapped to a cross armbreaker.

3) Jerry Lynn won a squash match. After the match, Lynn cut a promo on King.

Steve Corino was supposed to wrestle El Generico, but came out in a suit and cut a promo instead. Generico was awarded the win by forfeit, and attacked Corino.

4) Brent Albright won a squash match. Albright returned from a lengthy absence.

5) Colt Cabana defeated Ricky Reyes.

6) The Briscoes defeated the House of Truth. Truth Martini was not at ringside for his team.

7) Tyler Black defeated Rhett Titus in a non-title match. Roderick Strong prevented interference by King and Austin Aries. Black and Strong cut promos on each other and had a pull-apart brawl.

Intermission

8 ) Rasche Brown won a squash match.

9) Roderick Strong defeated Joey Ryan.

10) Dark City Fight Club won a squash match.

11) Necro Butcher won a squash match. Before the match, Jim Cornette met with Necro in the ring and told him that he should reach his potential by wrestling instead of brawling, and Necro stopped himself from using weapons during the match.

12) Delirious defeated Austin Aries by disqualification. Delirious suffered a throat injury, so they had to improvise a quick finish. Lynn chased King off with a chair.

13) Eddie Edwards defeated Davey Richards to win the ROH Television Championship. Richards tapped out to the Achilles lock and his partner was crowned the inaugural TV champ. Great match to close out the night.

  1. Brian Streleckis Says:

Not just two great outings by Richards tonight, but also by Edwards. His match with Steen saw him play the default face role as nearly all of Steen’s offense was on Edwards’ surgically repaired elbow. Steen cut a promo before his match saying how he looked back at the Steenerico-Wolves feud and felt that El Generico (without actually saying his name) got into their head like he got into Steen’s. Steen then said he liked Edwards, talked briefly about breaking his elbow, then jumped right on it. He was dumbstruck when he lost due to Generico’s distraction, sitting still for a lengthy moment before throwing a fit at ringside.

The main event was definitely the match of the night. Both guys going back and forth, with Richards accidentally kicking the ring post late in the match, eventually leading to the finish.

New World Champion Tyler Black talked with Jim Cornette to open the tapings proper, discussing Roderick Strong’s behavior. Richards interrupted the interview to tell Black that he has him in his sights. Lynn did the same thing at the end of his post-match promo.

Delirious seemed to suffer a legitimate throat injury following a spot where Aries countered Shadows Over Hell with a kick. The ref called out the other refs and (I presume) the attending doctor when he noticed something was wrong. They seemed to improvise things when Aries attacked Daizee from behind, then the bell rang, then they did a spot where Kenny King (also at ringside) laid Delirious throat-first across the guardrail and Aries came off the top onto him. Not sure how that all came about. In other injury news, Strong had his hamstring taped up and seemed to be hurting following his match with Ryan (which Strong won after overcoming ringside interference with the Strong Hold).

Corino’s promo on Generico was about him being a legend, while Generico is nothing. He even changed his mind about calling Generico a cancer because cancer is curable, so he called him full blown AIDS. When Generico started beating up Corino after Corino forfeited the match and kept insulting him, it received a very good crowd reaction.

After Black vs. Titus and all of the shenanigans leading to the finish (a superkick and God’s Last Gift), Strong told Black that he’d be his guardian angel, making sure no one touched him before he did. Black asked what his deal was and to stop acting like a bitch, so they commenced in a brawl.

Albright looked lean and seemed a lot more serious, no longer According to Jim.

Cornette’s speech to Necro, where he talked about him previously suspending Necro from television and his desire to see him get it done in the ring and not in the parking lot and elsewhere, reminded me of a smarter, more mature version of recent speeches given by Hulk Hogan to Abyss.
