Intermission

  1. Brian Streleckis Says:

Another fun match, with the three main events making it worth it.

I suspect the Kingston squash (over the fat guy in The Set, getting a singles “match” this night after his partner did last night) will make TV, while other dark matches will not. One such match was a tag featuring Bobby Dempsey, which took place right after the intermission (both last night and tonight had a brief intermission, with two episodes or so being filmed straight through).

The Ryan-Necro No DQ match wasn’t very good. Joey did some moves on Necro’s leg as it was laid on a chair. He threw powder again, since it was legal this time, then Nana and Ernesto joined in on a beatdown before Stevens ran down with a chair. This chased the Embassy out of the ring, but then of course Stevens turned around and nailed Necro with it. So he’s the new monster that’s been healed back to health. Grizzly tried to make a save but was stopped. A chair-assisted choo-choo ended the match. Later on during Stevens’ squash match, Nana dubbed him “The Ghanain Express.”

Cabana, in his first of two matches, beat Kozina with the Billy Goat’s Curse in a pretty fun little match, while the all-business Steen beat Sugarfoot with the Sharpshooter after already hitting the Package Piledriver.

Cornette’s brief promo for the crowd was simply to hype up the Pick Six matches and tell the crowd to keep the energy level up. A fine motivator.

Hero-Omega gave me some holy shit moments. Hero kept delivering these near-KO blows, but Omega kept surviving. Towards the end, they take it to the floor. Omega avoids a big move, then hits one of his own: a pair of running knees that began at the entrance and ended in Hero’s face while he was sitting on a chair. More awesome than it sounds here.

Delirious-Dutt was okay, but I think the stipulation hurt. I assume they’ll explain why it was a Submission Match on TV. Daizee Haze got on he apron when Dutt was choking Delirious with one of his tassles, so Dutt shoved Daizee off the apron, causing her to crash into the guard rails to a loud mixed reaction. Later, with the ref’s back turned, Daizee retaliated with a top rope dropkick, which led to Dutt’s downfall.

Jay-Mark wasn’t as crazy as their last match against one another (Fifth Year Festival: Finale over two years ago), but it was still very good.

Generico-Titus, which the crowd was a little dead for, ended with the ol’ brainbuster.

Strong-Richards was very good as expected. Not insane to the levels of the Danielson-Black matches or anything, but definitely main event-worthy. I can definitely see these two as future faces of the promotion now.
