Nitro Diaries: Match # 56

Match # 56: Juventud Guerrera/Super Calo/Hector Garza vs. La Parka/Damian/Ciclope (Nitro 5/26/97)
This might be the first true trios match form the luchadores on this set, which has me excited. They’ve got Larry Zbyszko in the booth, which is annoying because he’s just going to be pleased with himself for being ignorant, but they’ve got Mike Teney in there as well. This is one of the only times Teney in the booth has been a positive for me, but Lucha is his niche.
The first segment with La Parka and Juvi is just perfect stuff. Really good. Calo comes in and does a tope which puts him in the third row. I’m not exaggerating. This match is hot and the right kind of Lucha (if you read my stuff you know I’m very picky about Lucha I enjoy).
It’s funny to see as Nitro travels from town to town what cities or areas of the country are ready for this style, and what parts of the country just don’t get it. This town, where ever they are, is 80% not ready for wrestling to evolve.
The heel team captained by Parka does some good three man stuff, and the misses and reversals are well timed. This match is hitting on all cylinders, which is an accomplishment for six guys working together. We get the prerequisite one by one dive sequence near the end, and everything lands pretty well. Looks like guys got hurt, but the moves looked good. These guys take flat back hard bumps on the mats at ringside. Crazy like Foley. Garza wins with the standing moonsault about 6 minutes. Total sprint, like I like my Lucha, and they won over the crowd. 3 ¼ and 6.5/10.
