Match # 55: Ric Flair vs. Syxx (Nitro 5/19/97)

This is a babyface Flair making his Nitro return after time off against an NWO Sean Waltman, who could still go. Wouldn’t ya know it, Heenan decides to bring his A game this week announcing for an old friend. Even Zbyszko sounds coherent.

I like that Waltman jumped him at the bell. Something a bit different from a Flair match. For the one minute this is in the ring you get a cool dynamic of Flair playing the great local babyface to a hot crowd while Syxx plays Flair’s heel role. Unfortunately Hall and Nash hit the ring and that’s your match.

Lots of trash throwing. Hall hits the Razor’s Edge. Nash hit’s the jackknife power bomb. Syxx has “thug” written on his tights. I’m sure. Hall/Nash do some of their Too Cool For School promo work. Blah-blah. The end. 1 star and 1/10.
