Match # 54: The Steiner Brothers vs. Harlem Heat (Nitro 3/17/97)

Michael Buffer is announcing this Monday Nitro main event. ATM Eric must be in the house. At least with a main event we get a match with some time given to it – theoretically.

Three words: Tag Team Wrestling. Two more words: Mobile heavyweights. This match his shocking good from the opening bell. A good pace where they don’t go all out at first, but rather go back and forth with mini big shots like a belly-to-belly from a Steiner or a back kick from Booker T. Even Stevie Ray’s punch kick stuff looks good in there because these guys are working strong here. Lots of power moves. Did I mention I was a mark for the Nitro era Booker T? Well I am.

Nevermind. The entire NOW runs out and beats the crap out of everybody. Well, this set was put together for a mix of great matches and historic moments. This was a bigger NOW moment then a match apparently. I can’t complain. I loved the NWO stuff because these were my glory days as a teenage fan, so this kind of stuff still has relevance and pleasant memories for me. All the main WCW babyfaces come and clear the ring. The fans go nuts. This is the first time WCW has looked strong during the feud. Sting comes down from the rafters. People go even crazier. A big moment that should have led towards the end of the feud, but it didn’t. Good times. 2 stars and 3/10.
