Match # 44: La Parka vs. Juventud Guerrera (Nitro 11/18/96)

The opening to this match is hilarious. Something has happened to Tony Schiavone, so Larry Zybysko is running solo trying to give background on the Lucha stars. It’s like listening to him give his son “the talk”. Priceless.

The match is sloppy at times early, but they also do a lot of stuff that hitsd just fine. Seems like they are rushing through some spots, so it feels spotty. This is a more pure Lucha match that isn’t worked nearly as snuck as I prefer, but that’s my own leaning. Park looks like he’s not moving well in his costume tonight, but he does hit a solid missile dive. The selling in this match is lazy in my opinion, and there’s a miscommunication here and there. Sometimes they set up things just to do spots, and that’s not what I like in my wrestling because it doesn’t flow. Done right though, Lucha really can flow. This isn’t always that.

Parka works as a base throughout the high flying Guerrera’s offense. He’s decent at times, out of place at others. Seems to be more Juvi’s fault.

Alright, This one bored me. There’s just not enough solid flow, and Lucha needs flow to breathe. The kick outs and the logic are lazy. Finish was good with Parka taking it via cork screw splash in about 8 minutes. I didn’t come in with terribly high expectations, but this was just an average match for all that they tried. 2 and 4/10.
