Nitro Diaries: Match # 12

Match # 12: Ric Flair vs. Eddie Guerrero (Nitro 12/18/95)
Very cool mix of old school NWA and Lucha/super juniors. These guys can work anyone. Flair gets in his Stylin’ and profilin’ at the bell, so I’m a happy man. He’s noticeably bigger than Guerrero, much like Sting was against Malenko earlier in the set.
Flair bumps a lot for Guerrero and makes him seem like a threat from the onset. He tries to slow it down, but Guerrero keeps using speed against Flair. It’s speed vs the veteran tricks. A nice dynamic. Eddie actually shows a good amount of charisma in mocking Flair, which I don’t remember him showing a lot of in this time period.
Fans don’t really buy into Guerrero unless Flair’s really working to sell every little thing. Great bump by Guerrero off the top onto the floor. Story becomes Guerrero’s injured knee and Flair working it over. He holds the ropes on a figure four and the fans get hot finally. Odd finish you never see anymore, especially in such a short match, as Guerrero passes out from the pain of the Figure Four in only about six minutes. 3 stars and 6/10.
