I think it’s pretty clear, one third into the matches on the ballot, that this is the Jerry Lawler show. His matches against Flair, Mantell, Bockwinkel, and Funk are leading the charge on my ballot. What’s interesting to me is the fact that all but one (Flair) are big Mid South Coliseum main events. The lowest ranked at the top is the Flair match, a famed Studio match that is angle driven. Obviously I’m handcuffed by the fact I’m only watching what’s on the ballot list, but I do not rank Lawler’s studio work in a intimate setting nearly as high. In fact, two matches where he tags with Dundee are at the bottom. It should also be noted there’s a lot of love out there for Lawler vs Blackwell, a match I have back at 34.

Dundee, my second favorite on the set, actually has five in the top 16, but also occupies 8 matches from 29 to 39 (the bottom).

Finally, while singles matches and a handicapped match occupy the top six spots, much of 8-25 is loaded with tag matches.
