LIVE RESULTS for tonight’s ROH event from Chicago
Posted on January 26, 2008 by Brian Streleckis
BS With Honor, Brian Streleckis, Pro Wrestling, ROH, Results, Robert Dolezil Reporting, Steve Kriske
Last night’s Ring of Honor event from Dayton is in the books, with Nigel still the champ, Joey Mercury doing it for the Age of the Fall, and the Vulture Squad decimated by other circumstances (Evans is out with a broken face, Ruckus with a bad illness). Tonight is pretty special though, as our own Bob Dolezil plans to attend ROH’s latest excursion to Chicago Ridge and relay results to my audio cohort, Steve. Steve will in turn post Bob’s results in the comments section, so the Chronicle will be providing live indy results to you faster than it (or any other non-message board site) ever has before… any faulty technology permitting, knock on wood.
EDIT: For his part, John Philapavage will try to grab the comments and post them here on the main page. If all goes well, next time we have live coverage, we’ll all try to work as a unit and get the word out to everyone on the net.
“For the first time ever, one side of the bleachers is closed off.†I know they mentioned in the last News Wire that there would be tickets for sale at the door, so I assume this means that they’re expecting a relatively small crowd. Bob estimates that the attendance is 700-800.
1) Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson defeat Erick Stevens & Jay Briscoe in 16 minutes to advance to the Ultimate Endurance tag title match. Good match with decent comedy stemming from Aries & Danielson deciding to work together as a team and doing old-school moves like a double hip toss and a boot in the corner. Danielson gets the win with a small package.
2) Shane Hagadorn defeats Pelle Primeau in 5 minutes with brass knuckles.
3) Chris Hero & Sara Del Rey defeat “Sugarfoot†Alex Payne & Kyle Durden to retain the World Intergender Tag Team Championships. Sweet & Sour claimed that Sugarfoot counts as a woman.
4) Chris Hero & Sara Del Rey defeat Jigsaw & Daizee Haze. The titles were not on the line because Jigsaw & Daizee are not in the top ten international intergender tag team rankings. Decent match with Hero knocking Daizee out (but not for real) mid-match with a stiff elbow.
5) Claudio Castagnoli vs. El Generico goes to a 20-minute draw. “Real good†match with a lot of near falls and big moves in the last five minutes, including Claudio attempting a super Ricola Bomb, Generico attempting to reverse it into a hurricanrana, and Claudio rolling all the way through on the way down. Claudio had Generico in the Neutralizer as time expired.
6) Mark Briscoe defeats Joey Matthews Good 16-minute match with Matthews doing a lot of stalling and heel tactics. Age of the Fall accompanied Matthews and Jimmy Jacobs re-iterated that Aries has a standing offer to join them.
Intermission - It was announced that Kota Ibushi is the Japanese star hinted at in this week’s News Wire, and he’ll be on the next Chicago Ridge show on April 19.
7) Delirious defeats Adam Pearce in a dog collar match. Delirious wins in 20 minutes with a splash through a table. Good brawl.
World Tag Team Title Ultimate Endurance Match - ROH World Tag Team Champions Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black with Lacey vs. Bryan Danielson & Austin Aries vs. Davey Richards & Rocky Romero vs. BJ Whitmer & Brent Albright.
8 - Davey Richards & Rocky Romero win the World Tag Team Championships in an Ultimate Endurance Match In the first fall, Richards pins Black to guarantee new champions. In the second, Whitmer taps out to a triangle by Danielson. Richards rolls up Aries to win the titles and cap off an awesome final few minutes.
9) Nigel McGuinness defeats Roderick Strong to retain the ROH World Championship in 27 minutes with the Jawbreaker Lariat. “Bad-ass match.â€

More second-half details:
7) Delirious defeats Adam Pearce in a dog collar match Delirious came out in his new red and black outfit looking super intense. Shane Hagadorn interfered with a chair, and Pearce bled. Delirious wins in 20 minutes with a splash through a table. Good brawl.
9) Nigel McGuinness defeats Roderick Strong to retain the ROH World Championship in 27 minutes with the Jawbreaker Lariat. “Fucking bad-ass match.” Both guys teed off on each other with strikes, and Roderick hit a lot of backbreakers. Near the end, he hit a series of signature moves culminating in a Gibson Driver for a big near fall. Bob said it was the best title match he’s seen in a while.
Bob will have a more detailed report for the site, and will be joining us on BS With Honor #3 to discuss the show next week.
