BS With Honor #1

Posted on January 09, 2008 by John Philapavage

BS With Honor, Brian Streleckis, Pro Wrestling, ROH

We may be BS-ing, but we’re doing it with honor. Ring of Honor, that is, as PWChronicle presents its first audio show! In Part 1 of the premiere edition (66 minutes), hosts Brian and Steve discuss all the results and news coming out of the “Rising Above” PPV and Final Battle 2007, including including two big title changes and the Nigel McGuinness controversy. We also preview this weekend’s shows and make some predictions for the coming year in ROH. Check back this weekend for Part 2, featuring reviews of Caged Rage and Manhattan Mayhem II.

    I realized a few things we/I forgot:

    - We totally skipped over the Danielson-Albright match in the Boston preview. Whoops. For some reason, I have the feeling that this is going to be pretty bad by Danielson’s standards, mostly because both guys are usually on offense in their matches, and I’m not sure how they’ll mesh.

    - For the Rapid Fire question about foreign stars potentially coming in, I think Ricky Marvin is also pretty likely.

Great debut show, guys. As for the rapid fire question of an international star coming to ROH, unfortunately Aoki from NOAH wasn’t a hot tip from our Japanese writer and mutual pal, MG Wood. It was my pipe dream that I’d asked Wood about. I also bothered Dave Meltzer by e-mailed, and he wrote back that he had heard nothing, but it was possible. With Aoki getting a 10 match series now, it becomes more of a possibility halfway through the year.

  3. Brian Streleckis Says:

I totally forgot Danielson vs. Albright was even booked, so color me embarrassed for not realizing what Danielson’s match on this show was. ROH’s site lists Albright also being in the ULTIMATE Ultimate Endurance Match, so that kind of led to some confusion on my part.

Big match for Albright for sure, but I’m not sure how they’ll mesh either. It could be somewhat similar (though not as heated) as what Danielson’s done with Morishima and Joe.

  4. Brian Streleckis Says:

Okay, so I realized last night that we originally talked about Danielson vs. Hero for Boston’s event. The new match with Albright was just recently added to replace it, as explained in yesterday’s ROH Newswire:

Unfortunately, Chris Hero suffered a knee injury last weekend [in PWG] and will be unable to compete against Bryan Danielson. However, Brent Albright has stepped forward and volunteered to fill Hero’s spot. You will see the first ever meeting of Bryan Danielson vs. Brent Albright TOMORROW NIGHT in Boston!!!

  5. Steve Says:

OK, so Brian pointed out that apparently we didn’t forget that match…it was added to the card yesterday, but they didn’t “announce” it (with Albright replacing Chris Hero) until today’s News Wire.
