The Morning After- 08/09/07 Impact

Impact is back and tonight they are announcing the debut of the very controversial…..Well I won’t spoil it yet if you don’t know.

- Jim Cornette is in his office with Leticia and his new bodyguard Matt Morgan. Team 3D interrupts and says they have 30 days to exercise their rematch clause and they would like to do so. As they leave they call Leticia a “tramp.” Well that seemed harsh.

- Cornette out to the ring and he is interrupted there by Christian. He should just be prepared to be interrupted the rest of the night.

Cornette announces that due to the win last week Abyss and his team of Sting and Andrew Martin have challenged Christian, Tomko, and Styles to a Doomsday, Barbed Wire, Way Too many adjectives match. You must first bust a guy open before you can pin him. The winner of the match gets the champ at Hard Justice. What the hell why not throw somebody on a pole in that match, or a Coal Miner’s Glove.

Christian says something about seeing them and then the lights go out and when they come up Abyss and his gang are in the ring and we brawl.

- Interview time with Kurt Angle and he is crying because he just spoke with his divorce attorney and he has lost his wife and kids. Great.

- Back at the Impact Zone and we discuss some of the stuff for this weekend’s PPV.

- 6 Man House of Fun match now as Raven, James Storm, and Robert Roode versus Kaz, Rhyno, and Chris Harris.

Kaz comes out and the battle is on before all his partners are out. I’m fairly certain this would be chaotic because it looks like a junkyard in the ring and everyone is battling all over the building.

Steel chair hits ring throughout the building and then Raven dumps Kaz to the floor and then drops an elbow onto Kaz through a table. Meanwhile James Storm takes a break in the middle of the ring as we head to commercial.

Back from the break and Kaz is not only up but diving through the ropes and getting hit with a garbage can lid. Raven hits his convoluted looking drop-toehold into a chair move. Then they have Storm and Rhyno stand off and Storm does a goofy dance with the nunchuks (sp). Seriosuly that was stupid and made Storm look awful.

Kaz sends Raven through a table in the corner but Roode catches him with a sledgehammer and the Payoff for the 3 count.

- Leticia is in the back trying to get a word with Samoa Joe. She sees who is behind the door and does some fake acting.

- Angle is in the back discussing his problems with Kevin Nash who screams at him to stop acting like a baby and start blaming everyone else instead of himself. That seems counterproductive. Jeremy Borash then reminds Angle of Joe’s special guest and he breaks down again.

- Tag team action time as Kip James and Brother Devon take on Rick Steiner and Homicide. This should be an interesting mix of styles. By interesting I mean bad.

Homicide comes out to a remix of the LAX song. I guess it’s ok.

Rick and Kip start off. Rick actually looks like he is in decent shape, and by decent I mean not all roided up.

Rick Steiner is getting beat up by James and Devon throughout the heat segment. This match is mind numbingly bad right now. Steiner comes back with a clothesline a minute after we come back from the break and gets the hot tag to Homicide.

Homicide hits a few moves but then gets caught with the Fameasser for the 3 count. That was a horribly laid out match.

- Leticia is in the back with Samoa Joe and she says she can’t believe who he has as his guest. Hey bitch quit teasing us.

- Joe is out and brings out his special guest Karen Angle. She is quite the looker. Tenay makes sure to hammer home that she looks better when she is not being put down and yelled at by Angle.

Joe says he will take Angle’s livelihood at the PPV. Kurt does his best to try and talk Karen back into his life. The crowd feels indifferent.

She reiterates that the marriage is over. Joe then makes fun of him some more.

Team 3D comes out and says they want their belts back and then Angle joins in and they leave Joe lying in the middle of the ring.

The Steiners come out for the save and we are left with Angle and the Steiners standing tall.

- A video for Hard Justice finishes it up for us and that is the show.

Really kind of a bad go-home show before the PPV. The show was way too fast paced this week and they still seemed like they didn’t get everything in. They badly need a second hour- with the notion that the pacing will slow down once they get the extra hour.

The videos throughout with Pacman Jones were very well done and there is some intrugue to see how they do his debut.

Otherwise though this is a company that needs to have an above average PPV Sunday and then come back with a good episode of Impact next Thursday.
