PWG 4/7/07 Results
Posted on April 08, 2007 by Brian Streleckis
The first night of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s “All Star Weekend V” is in the books, and the word from select fans on the PWG message board (from which these results have been collected) is that it delivered big time. Here’s what went down:
Night begins with PWG Commissioner of Food & Beverage Excalibur announcing that, during next month’s Tag Team Title Tournament (dubbed the Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament, or DDT4), Dragon Gate’s Don Fujii will be in action. Later on, PWG Commissioner of Wrestling Dino Winwood comes out to announce that Fujii will be wrestling (in non-tournament action) another Dragon Gate wrestler: Stalker Ichikawa. Basically, this is a power guy versus a comedy wrestler who’s gimmick is he’s really weak.
1. Disco Machine defeats Nosawa after hitting the Chokebreaker (chokeslam into a backbreaker over the knee).
2. Rocky Romero defeats Roderick Strong via submission with an armbar from the top turnbuckle.
3. Human Tornado (w/ Candice LaRae) defeats Claudio Castagnoli with a rollup while holding the tights.
Colt Cabana is unable to make it for his match, so instead…
4. Kikutaro defeats Matt Classic. Good lord, I must see this.
5. Kevin Steen defeats Jack Evans following his trademark package piledriver and a Steenalizer into the corner (the Steenalizer is a sick-looking package suplex along the lines of the Cracker Jack suplex LAX’s Hernandez does).
6. Joey Ryan, Chris Bosh, Scott Lost & Karl “Machine Gun” Anderson defeat Frankie Kazarian, TJ Perkins, Ronin & Top Gun Talwar. Before the match, the real Scorpio Sky runs out to beat up the fake Scorpio Sky, taking the imposter out of the match. Anderson takes his place. Ryan’s team wins it after Bosh and Lost (AKA Arrogance) hit a Northern Lights into a backbreaker on Top Gun for the pin.
7. Kaz Hayashi defeats Alex Shelley with the Final Cut.
8. Low Ki defeats Davey Richards with the Ghetto Stomp.
9. El Generico defeats PAC with with the brainbuster on the top turnbuckle to retain the PWG World Title.
Tonight is Night 2, featuring Low Ki vs. Samoa Joe and Kaz Hayashi vs. PAC. I’ll have those results posted for tomorrow, and follow that up with a rundown of the big Tag Team Title tournements being held in May by both PWG and IWA Mid-South.
