Serra Knocks Out St. Pierre in 1st
Posted on April 07, 2007 by John Philapavage

For the second straight month, a title changes hands via a shocking upset. That, and a hot crowd for a dull fight with an AMAZING heel. UFC 69 is in the books. Results and coverage, ta-da
First of all, on the 1am Eastern ESPN SportsCenter, they had coverage of the UFC event in the second half hour (around 1:40am). They covered it as a serious sport and had footage of the Serra knockout of St. Pierre. It wasn’t compleltely smooth, but it’s a HUGE start. This is very BIG if it continues. Also, that Sports Ill. cover I was calling for last month for Coutute isn’t hear yet, but word is they’re doing a major article on UFC as well. On to the coverage…
Figure Four Online streaming coverage of UFC 69
Dave Meltzer’s Observer live coverage
Houston Chronicle Coverage And it’s been good all month long
Full report from Erin Bucknell
And of course, heading into tommarow Sherdog.com will have video coverage of the post-fight press conference and fighter interviews.
Man, and I was really looking at seeing St. Pirre and Hughes hook it up in Montreal, or Sanchez getting a title shot. At least we’ve got great Heavy, Light Heavy, and Welterweight divisions now.
