An amusing Four for the Road from May 17, 2006 on why God must hate the Jarretts, the Carters, and TNA more then Vince McMahon. And this was before Vinny Russo was back in the picture!

–God might be mad at Vince McMahon for falsely advertising him/her on Pay-Per-View, but God definitely hates the Jarretts, Carters, and TNA. That’s the only Gnostic way I can rationalize the bad luck befallen to rising star Samoa Joe less then twenty-four hours after the biggest weekend in his North American wrestling career.

Reports on last night’s TNA TV taping, and they range from mildly bad to worse, say Joe tore his MCL and PCL while trying to throw a kick during a match. Apparently the ligaments are all pretty bad, the only silver lining being that his ACL still lies in place. An MRI is scheduled for later this week, but I think it’s safe to say Joe will get to see a lot of the NBA playoffs at his local bar.

I can’t even begin to imagine the sick feeling that Mike Tenay and the rest of the booking committee had last night as Joe left the building in an ambulance. For all the crap I give TNA and its front office/owners/sponsors they did one thing completely right. Joe was handled perfectly from the moment he was brought in. He was handled so well that I couldn’t wait to see where this push went. You definitely got the feeling he was going over Steiner, and possibly Jeff Jarrett, on route to a title reign late this year. That’s speculation, but he was going to be a featured player.

At this point I’d like to suggest some damage control. Since you’ve got a few weeks of tape in the can, show it all up until Joe gets injured. I know most of your fans are internet marks, but ROH puts out their DVDs a month and a half after shows, and they still do well. At that point have Tenay get serious, show us the tape while talking over it, and push that no one hurt Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe hurt himself by being such a destructive force in the ring that he kicked a man so hard he “broke” his own knee. If you want to mention the ligaments that’s fine, but make sure you send Scott Steiner out to taunt Joe week after week.

Finally, when Joe gets mobility, have him come after Steiner. During the PPV match Steiner can target the knee, ground Joe, but Joe overcomes, and fighting pain through pure will, beats the evil Steiner one-two-three. See, no worries guys; Just a set back. In the mean time, let’s see that beautiful heel push footage of Alex Shelly one more time. Beautiful!

Now, if he’s out over two and a half months, scrap what I said. If that’s the case, TNA is screwed.
